BasicWatch

by Basiciggy

Design an Adventure or Battle face for your Apple Watch in the browser, exactly as in the iPhone app. Then download a .basic file and open it in BasicWatch. Nothing is uploaded; it all stays on your device.

Your party

Up to 6. The sprites are packed into your .basic file, so the app installs them with the design. Pokémon sprites from PMD SpriteCollab by its artists (CC BY-NC 4.0), not for commercial use.

Pick up to 6 of the app's original pixel critters.

Gen V animated Black/White sprites from PokeAPI's sprite collection, loaded when needed and not stored in the file. Random gives the opponent a new Pokémon every battle.

Clock size

Bigger sizes scale the clock up without stretching it. In Battle, Fill grows it until it fills the text box.

Reactive scene

In the app your Pokémon's HP bar shows today's steps toward the goal, and the opponent's bar shows the watch's battery. The preview uses sample numbers.

Your design

Get it on your phone

  1. Download the file (or AirDrop it from a Mac).
  2. On your iPhone, open it from Files, Messages or AirDrop and choose BasicWatch.
  3. It appears in the app's Library. Tap it to send it to your watch.

The file holds your design: map or background, Pokémon, clock look and scene options. Adventure designs with Pokémon also carry their sprites, so the app installs them with the design. It needs a BasicWatch version that reads design-file version 4. Steps, battery and weather are never part of a design.
